“Proving Translation as Factor in Essay Writing Problems: Students’ Corpora in Context" is a phenomenological study that focuses on finding pieces of evidence that would justify translation from L1 to L2 as a cause of error features in essays. Constructing English essays is likely to be a relevant issue for numerous English language learners. The quality of their essays tends to be relatively poor partially because poor word choices and grammatical mistakes are present in their essays. We conducted qualitative research and interviewed 14 participants, 7 for in-depth interviews and 7 for focus group to gather needed data. Data triangulation was realized through the data sources of the in-depth interview, focus group discussion, and we, the researchers, as the third informants. The results were sorted into significant themes. Emerged from the responses of our participants in both in-depth interview and focus group discussion; the insufficient vocabulary, poor word choice, and limited grasp to grammatical structures are the main reasons they have pointed out why they do a translation that eventually leads to being a great contributing factor on error-features found in their essays.
