Several studies conducted to evaluate and pinpoint the pattern of the commission of crime, especially index crime. Index Crimes are those violations of the penal code considered to have socioeconomic significance and occur with sufficient regularity to be meaningful; hence, it can significantly affect our daily living were happening throughout the day. The study was conducted to identify the crime rates of index crimes, and its time occurrence to identify the most and least common index crime also, the most frequent time of its commission when analyzed by time points of the day. Using descriptive type research design, secondary data was extracted and utilized from the Philippine National Police Office in Digos City. The results revealed that index crimes were highly frequent during night time, especially midnight, where it can conceal identity and can build up criminal intent of the perpetrator because of inadequate lighting. Also, theft, robbery and physical injury have the highest rate of index crimes recorded in Digos City from the year 2014 to 2017.
